Are You Okay?

Our Spiritual Formation Coordinator, Tim Totten, sent home a survey to the high school students just to find out how they’re doing spiritually, emotionally, socially, and mentally during this extended time of lockdown. The results weren’t that surprising, as about half of them indicated that they are struggling in at least one of these areas. Many said that they miss their friends and really want to come back to school and to return to a normal social life. They miss playing on an athletic team and hanging out at the mall. Some are struggling with the amount of time they are working on their device and finding a balance between schoolwork and leisure time.
On the positive side, many said that they’ve enjoyed spending more time with their families. Others have done some deep thinking about themselves and their futures. Still others said that they have been reading their Bibles more and have felt closer to God. I believe that this time of separation will allow us all to appreciate even more the normal, everyday things that we have taken for granted in the past.
We are anxious to hear if we will be allowed to return to school on February 8. As usual, we will communicate with you any news that we hear. But until the time when things go back to normal, I wanted to emphasize to you all as families in our community to please let us know if you need anything. Several students indicated in the survey that they would like to speak with someone on staff. Unfortunately, not all of them gave us their name, so if your child needs someone to talk to, please let us know. If you need someone to talk with, please let us know.
We really do want you to answer our question: Are you okay?
Because of His Faithfulness,
