INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE The International Baccalaureate (IB) grew again over the past year with an increase of 4.8% in the number of students taking assessments in the Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP). Our ICSV students (22 full IB program candidates and 6 IB courses students) were part of the 202,103 students that received their results this year. Olli-Pekka Heinonen, Director General of the International Baccalaureate, states: “I’m inspired by the dedication, resilience, and compassion shown by IB students during such a complex time in the world. As IB graduates move forward - into higher education, careers, or service to their communities - they carry with them the competencies, values, and global mindset needed to thrive and make a meaningful difference. IB graduates leave not only with knowledge, but also with the perspective and purpose to lead, serve, and shape a better world. We are proud of who they are and the impact they’re already making.” 1 The Diploma Programme consists of students taking 6 subjects each scored out of 7 (highest grade) along with the core components of theory of knowledge (TOK), extended essay (EE), and creativity, activity and service (CAS). Students must score at least 24 points, 12 of which must be from their Higher Level courses. Below is a summary table of the average global IBDP results and ICSV results for the past 5 years. It is important to note that the results from 2020 to 2022 were inflated due to COVID-19 marking schemes implemented to compensate for the disruption to education caused by the pandemic. The global average score for the IBDP has increased to 30.58, increasing from last year’s average of 30.32. Additionally, the pass rate for the IBDP this year was 81.26%, compared to 80% last year. The average worldwide IBDP grade this year is 4.89. ICSV continues to outperform its global counterparts in both the DP mean grade (5.03 vs 4.89) as well as the DP average total points (32 vs. 30.58).
