When I arrived at ICSV last year, God immediately put it on my heart that we should become a leader among other Christian schools. We have been blessed with a long history of God’s faithfulness and a strong staff and faculty with both experience and a wealth of knowledge that would benefit others. This vision for ICSV’s place in the international community has become a reality.
As one of the first Christian schools to adopt the IB Diploma Programme, we have begun to be a resource to other Christian schools that are looking into IB as an option. As a member of the Schulamt, I have been invited to visit two small Christian schools in Austria that are in need of encouragement and consultation. Just last week Christine Sipos, our third grade teacher, and I were invited to speak at an educational conference sponsored by the Schulamt. I spoke about the philosophy of Christian school education and biblical integration. Christine shared about using Whole Brain Teaching and how it helps with classroom management. Teachers and administrators asked us for copies of our presentations and posed numerous questions about how they could make changes in their own schools and classrooms. Just this week I had the privilege of addressing the elementary staff at Mayflower Christian Academy here in Vienna. They have been a wonderful partner to us, helping us in our transition last year to receive recognition by the Stadtschulrat. We were able to give back by bringing words of support for their ministry, as we partner together to meet the needs of the international community here in Vienna.
Just as God is using ICSV to reach out to other Christian schools, so we desire to teach our students to use their experiences and giftings to serve those around them. Remember our theme this year: Godly Ambition – Glorify God; Serve Others. We have been given so much. I pray that we will share out of our abundance with others.
Because of His Faithfulness,
Sharon Brobst, Ed.D.
