This week has been Spirit Week at ICSV. Every day after school there was an athletic event for us to support. On Tuesday I enjoyed playing volleyball, as the staff took on the girls’ varsity team. The court seemed so much bigger than I remember from my college days. (I actually took volleyball as a class for credit and got an “A” in it because I could serve. That wasn’t the case this week.) They beat us bad, but everyone had a good time.

During the day, we all dressed up in crazy costumes to show our school spirit. (Enjoy pictures of some of our staff and students.) Students in elementary school were paired up with secondary school students in order to build stronger relationships across the grade levels. Tonight is the Talent Show to raise money for our Romania Mission Trip that will be taking place during Fall Break. Both our elementary and middle school choirs will be singing, so you will all want to come out and vote for your favorite act. All money that is collected will benefit the women and children at River of Hope, in Romania. I hope to see you there.

On Wednesday, we ended the half-day with candy and ice cream as we had a special Pep Rally to acknowledge our sports teams and also to celebrate reaching our goal of 40.000 euros for Cool the School. Toward the end of September, we received a most generous anonymous gift of 1000 euros in cash for our fundraiser. Whoever it was that chose to bless us all in this way, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! RCE International, the organization that helps send us many of our teachers, and their cooperating organization, Cedarstone Partners, both gave large gifts toward our need. To ensure that we received all the funds necessary for the project, an alumnus and school parent donated the remaining amount so that we could reach our 40.000 euro goal! Thank you, all, so much for your support of the school. May you be encouraged and blessed for your generosity! I just knew that we could all work together to Cool the School!
