The Next Generation of Christian Leaders
I get excited when I see new college graduates enter the teaching profession. I graduated right when Christian schools were starting to spring up all over the US and in other parts of the world. Even our accrediting body, the Association of Christian School International (ACSI), was founded in 1978, just one year before I completed my student teaching. Many educators who graduated with me or near that time are still serving all over the world as administrators and teachers, but we are nearing retirement. That is why it is so important that the next generation of teachers pick up the torch and begin their careers in Christian education.
ICSV is a highly desired school as a place where future educators can come and complete their student teaching requirement. It is a wonderful place to learn what it means to educate the whole child, as each day we strive to provide a high quality education in a caring environment. This year, we are fortunate to have an outstanding new teacher join us for the next 90 days. Miss Abbie Blain is completing her student teaching this semester in first grade with Mrs. Siratt. She is in her last year at Cedarville University in Southwest Ohio studying Early Childhood Education with minors in Bible and Women’s Ministry. She will graduate in May.
Miss Blain grew up in South Florida, and her family currently lives south of Nashville, Tennessee. She was blessed with parents who love the Lord and who taught her and her sister from an early age the importance of their need for a Savior. At the age of five, after a significant loss in her life, she realized that she was a sinner, and the only way she could be saved from that sin was by accepting Jesus as Lord of her life. Being able to go to a Christian university in the States has helped her faith grow in many ways. Now, she is excited for how the Lord is confirming His call on her life to be a teacher.
Abbie grew up in a very diverse community and church and has had an interest in teaching abroad since she was in middle school. She is excited about teaching at ICSV and getting to interact with so many different cultures each day. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with friends. She loves to drink coffee and to spend time in different coffee shops. Abbie is really looking forward to exploring the area around Vienna this semester.
Join me in welcoming Miss Abbie Blain to the ICSV community. I’ve already heard wonderful things about her. Thank you, Lord, for raising up new Christian teachers!
Because of His Faithfulness,
