The Planning Continues
The last two years have certainly been unique. The COVID restrictions have encouraged parents to stay away from the school building, so we have hardly had any chances to interact with each other. Even with most of our focus being on COVID and the changing regulations at school, I wanted to update you on the planning process for the new building. Yes, we are still working on it!
About a year ago, we held several planning sessions to discuss the school’s needs in the new building. Planning stalled out for a while as we worked to complete needed steps that would allow the process to continue. For example, it took two years for the rezoning approval to go through. It is not uncommon nor unexpected for there to be seasons of waiting during a project of this scope.
The good news is that the detailed planning sessions have resumed. Representatives from Franz&Sue, the architect firm that is designing our building, have met with the school’s building committee numerous times this fall. In addition, we have hired Neumayer Project Management to help us with the technical aspects of the planning and to represent ICSV’s interests throughout the project.
We have met to work through plans for the four science labs, the music and art rooms, and the learning commons areas that will be on every academic floor. Next week, we will host an expert in stage and theatre design and clarify our needs for athletics and physical education. Lastly, we will work on the design of the ground floor where the cafeteria and kitchen will be located. The administrative offices, reception area, and playgrounds will also be up for discussion.
As you can see, we are working hard to complete the detailed plans. Be encouraged that ICSV is continuing with the huge project of building a school that will be designed just for us! Remember that God knows the beginning and the end, even when we can’t see either one clearly. Thank you for your continuing support of the school during this exciting time.
Because of His Faithfulness,
Dr. Sharon Brobst, Director
